Junior Motion Designer

About the Role

We're hiring a Junior Motion Designer to join our team and bring our brand and design work to life through animation and video. You'll work alongside our Motion Designer, Lars Hoekstra, and the broader creative team on projects ranging from social media animations to full brand launch videos.

This is an ideal role for someone early in their career who has a strong foundation in motion design and is eager to grow in a collaborative studio environment.

What You'll Do

• Create animations, motion graphics, and short-form video content
• Animate brand elements including logos, icons, and typography
• Assist with storyboarding and animatic development
• Edit and composite video footage for client projects
• Help maintain and expand our motion design templates and toolkit
• Collaborate with designers and illustrators to translate static work into motion

What We're Looking For

• 1–3 years of experience in motion design (studio, agency, or freelance)
• A showreel or portfolio demonstrating strong motion fundamentals
• Proficiency in After Effects — this is your primary tool
• Familiarity with Premiere Pro and basic video editing
• Understanding of design principles — timing, easing, composition, and color
• Curiosity and a willingness to learn new tools and techniques
• Comfort receiving and incorporating feedback in a collaborative setting

Nice to Have

• Experience with Cinema 4D, Blender, or other 3D tools
• Familiarity with Lottie animations for web
• Basic understanding of Figma
• Interest in hand-drawn or frame-by-frame animation
• Experience with sound design

1. Reel review — We'll review your application and showreel
2. Intro call — 30-minute video call with Lars and Maya
3. Mini project — A short paid exercise to see how you think and work
4. Studio day — Spend a half-day at the studio working with the team
5. Offer — If we're both excited, we'll make it official
